IT-AI compared with RMM and remote-access tools

IT-AI next to TeamViewer, RustDesk, NinjaOne, Tactical RMM, MeshCentral, Action1, Level, Atera and Breeze: deployment, licence, AI access, gaps.

IT-AI is a self-hosted RMM built to be operated by your AI. Here is how it sits next to the cloud RMMs, the self-hosted tools and the remote-access products people compare it with. Competitor facts are from each vendor's own pages or the source named under the table, as accessed on 21 October 2026, and prices change. Corrections are welcome through the contact page.

Where IT-AI is weaker

  • No patch rollout policies. IT-AI lists pending updates and can apply them all, but has no rings, maintenance windows or per-patch approvals. NinjaOne, Action1 and Breeze do.
  • No PSA, ticketing, backup or mobile clients. Atera and Breeze include PSA; NinjaOne sells backup; TeamViewer and RustDesk have mobile apps.
  • Agent binaries are not OS code-signed. Releases are checksummed, ed25519-signed and Sigstore-attested, but not Apple-notarized or Authenticode-signed. Tactical RMM offers signed agents to sponsors.
  • Young and small. No customer logos, no certifications, no third-party security review published.

Where IT-AI fits

  • The AI is the primary interface. The MCP server and CLI are first-class, not an add-on to a GUI, and an AI's reach is bounded by the token you mint and the deny-list on your hub.
  • No vendor holds the keys. The hub, its audit log and the AI key are on your server. The cloud RMMs' AI and MCP features run in the vendor's cloud.
  • Open agent. The code that runs as root on your devices is MIT and auditable, with build provenance for every release.
  • Edge devices behind CGNAT. Devices dial out, and a Linux device can be a WireGuard VPN exit through the hub's relay.
